Proton Therapy Case Study: HPV-related Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Tonsil Presentation and Examination In May 2020, a 50-year-old healthy, nonsmoking man presented with a painless mass in the left neck and odynophagia for the preceding month. Diagnosis A contrast-enhanced CT scan of the neck revealed 3.2 cm and 1 cm cervical level II lymph nodes, with no obvious primary tumor. Subsequent fine-needle aspiration biopsy was performed on the left level II lymph node, which revealed a p16 (HPV) positive squamous cell carcinoma (SCC).

Proton Therapy Case Study: Breast Cancer Recurrent invasive ductal carcinoma of the breast with contralateral axillary relapse History The patient is a 66-year-old female initially treated in 2012 with lumpectomy, sentinel node biopsy, adjuvant chemotherapy and adjuvant whole breast/regional nodal radiotherapy for pT1N1M0 right invasive ductal carcinoma. She remained without evidence of disease for several years after this initial treatment.

Proton Therapy Case Study: Gastrointestinal Oncology Diagnosis: Recurrent anal squamous cell carcinoma in a patient with a pelvic kidney Presentation and Examination The patient is a 48-year-old male who underwent an orthotopic kidney transplant 20 years ago and was subsequently diagnosed with an anal squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) in 2009. At the time of the original diagnosis, he was treated with a surgical excision followed by pelvic radiotherapy. He recently presented with a new anal mass. A pelvic MRI identified a 3.7 cm mass at the anal verge.

Proton Therapy Case Study: Rare Pediatric Intracranial Myxoid Sarcoma Presentation and Examination A 12-year-old male presented with a one-month history of nausea and vomiting accompanied by progressive headaches radiating toward the frontal skull and behind the right eye Diagnosis A brain MRI revealed a 5.7 x 5.5 x 5.0 cm large dural-based extra-axial enhancing mass in the right frontal region of the brain, with a dural tail that was invaginating into the right frontal lobe.
