The Inova Stroke and Cerebrovascular Disease Program provides exceptional care to our patients through screenings, advanced imaging and treatments, surgical intervention, and rehabilitation. We combine the latest technologies with compassionate and individualized support. All of our hospitals have in-hospital stroke experts who work effectively with local Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and coordinated care teams for prompt and effective treatment of acute strokes, as well as rehabilitative care and post stroke medical management. Each Inova hospital has a dedicated Stroke Medical Director.

Information for Referring Physicians The goal of the Inova Stroke and Cerebrovascular Disease Program is to partner with referring physicians to deliver efficient, effective and personalized care for patients requiring care for stroke and other cerebrovascular diseases. Through a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary approach, the Program provides a network of non-surgical and surgical specialists trained in the treatment of cerebrovascular disease.

When a Stroke Strikes – BE FAST Expand Content Not sure whether a person's symptoms are a stroke? B.E.F.A.S.T. and quickly check for any of these signs of stroke: B = Balance – Is the person suddenly having trouble with balance or coordination? E = Eyes – Is the person experiencing blurred or double vision or a sudden loss of vision in one or both eyes? F = Face Drooping – Does one side of the face droop or is it numb?  A = Arm Weakness – Is one arm weak or numb? Ask the person to raise both arms. Does one arm drift downward?

About the Inova Vascular Neurology Clinic (Stroke Clinic) The Inova Vascular Neurology Clinic functions as a comprehensive stroke clinic that provides non-acute care to patients with stroke and other neurovascular processes with a confirmed stroke, TIA or pathology of the cerebrovasculature in order to augment the care provided to our stroke patients via expert consultations and expanded community care. We have a multidisciplinary and patient centered approach to provide neurovascular services for our community where patients can be seen by highly trained vascular neurologists.
