  2. Falls Prevention Education

    A Matter of Balance A Matter of Balance is an 8-week structured group intervention that emphasizes practical strategies to reduce fear of falling and increase activity levels. Participants learn to view falls and fear of falling as controllable, set realistic goals to increase activity, change their environment to reduce fall risk factors, and exercise to increase strength and balance. Classes offered in and around the community by request. A Matter of Balance is run by Linda Watkins, Injury Prevention Coordinator at Inova Trauma Center – Fairfax.
  3. Reality Check

    Reality Check Reality Check is a unique safe driver, injury prevention program that focuses on safety and education. It is designed to: Reduce teenage distracted driving, reckless driving, and driving under the influence (DUI) Help parents and guardians learn to be good mentors and driving coaches The course is free and only offered at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus. Space is limited.
  4. SAFE

    SAFE is a mandatory, court-ordered program designed for teens ages 15 to 18 who are charged with a first-time alcohol or substance abuse offense. The program is sponsored by Inova Fairfax Hospital and the Fairfax Alcohol Safety Action Program, in cooperation with the 19th Judicial District Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court.
  5. Research at Inova Trauma Center

    Inova Trauma Center is committed to the improvement of patient care through research. Our research program includes both funded and unfunded projects. It is supported by a full-time research manager and full-time research associate who are focused on trauma research. Trauma surgeons, fellows, residents, and students actively engage in research activities at Inova Trauma Center. Our team is supported by the Department of Surgery's biostatistician.
  6. CIREN

      The Crash Injury Research and Engineering Network (CIREN) is a multi-disciplinary program that brings together clinicians and engineers in academia, industry and government to review data on patient injuries, personal interviews, and findings from crash site and vehicle wreckage.
  7. New Research Projects

    The studies below were initiated in 2020 & 2021 by Inova Trauma Center I. Prospective Data Collection IRB# U21-03-4413 Title: Compassion fatigue and burn out in trauma registry professionals: A mixed methods study by the American Trauma Society [Multi-center study; Inova coordinating] Aim: Determine whether CF or burnout can be identified in TRPs, linked to their work as registrars.
  8. Trauma Education

    The Inova Trauma Centers in Inova Fairfax Hospital and Inova Loudoun Hospital have created a network of educational resources for the trauma professional. Our goal is the dissemination of the most current knowledge and expertise required to skillfully care for the trauma patient. Our multidisciplinary educational resources benefit pre-hospital providers, undergraduate students, nursing professionals, medical students, and physicians. Programs include lectures, simulation workshops, conferences, and websites.
