1. Conferences

    The Inova Department of Medicine offers a wide range of core and subspecialty conferences, and recruits distinguished speakers from both the hospital medical staff and the local community of private physicians. In addition to the daily noon lecture series, several conferences have been designed to enhance the learner's experience. Resident Case Report: Supervised by the chief medical residents. Cases from the medicine teaching service are presented by residents. Program director, attending faculty and subspecialists are in attendance.

  3. Curriculum (Unlocked Site)

    The Internal Medicine Residency Program is primarily based at the Inova Fairfax Medical Campus (IFMC) for inpatient rotations on the general wards, intensive care units, emergency medicine, general medicine consult services as well as the inpatient portions of sub-specialty consultative services. The outpatient electives as well as ambulatory training are provided by IFMC faculty members in Inova specialty clinics, select Inova-associated community practices and Inova Internal Medicine Group clinic locations.
  4. Inpatient Rotations

    The curriculum for the ICU, CCU and Ward rotations at Inova Fairfax Hospital are structured in a competency-based format and include information on didactics, conferences, methods of evaluation and recommended reading lists. Curricula are reviewed and updated by the Academic Committee at least annually. The Department of Medicine is fully compliant with all the institutional Graduate Medical Education policies at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus.
  5. Resources for Faculty

    The article and CDIM module listed below are excellent resources on teaching for residents and attending physicians. The CDIM module is a tool created by the clerkship directors in internal medicine (CDIM) and the Association of Program Directors in Internal Medicine (APDIM) to help residents become more effective teachers in the course of their normal work duties.

  7. Research: Internal Medicine Residency Program
