    Leadership The Inova-GWU Psychosomatic Medicine Fellowship is directed by Catherine C. Crone, MD, and Thomas N. Wise, MD. Dr. Crone is a fellow of the Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine (APM) and current treasurer. Dr. Wise has been president of both the APM and the American Psychosomatic Society. He is associate chair of psychiatry at GWU. Both have focused much of their careers on fellowship training, serving on the APM fellowship training subcommittee and the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology’s psychosomatic medicine examination committee.

    The Graduate Medical Education (GME) Clearance Card Checklist lists all the required documents and forms for residents, which are also listed below.     These are exciting times at Inova Fairfax Hospital, the flagship of Inova’s five hospitals, and the Inova Surgery Residency Program. Inova Fairfax Medical Campus serves nearly 4 million people with nearly 1,000 beds through the five hospitals on campus. An extensive, five-year campus expansion has recently concluded with the opening of the new Inova Women’s Hospital, a new Inova Children’s Hospital, and a new 10-story patient tower.
  6. About the Surgery Residency Program

    The Inova Fairfax Hospital Surgery Residency Program is fully accredited by the ACGME. The graduating chief residents routinely complete their training with over 1,100 major procedures and have been successful in entering private practice or obtaining fellowships in their chosen fields of interest. Mission and Program Aims Protected Educational Time The residents enjoy five hours of protected educational time each week, including one hour of morbidity/mortality conference, one hour of a grand rounds presentation and three hours of problem/case based learning in our simulation center.

  8. Surgery Residency Program Application Process

    The deadline for receipt of applications to Inova Fairfax Hospital Department of Surgery is November 30. The following information is required: Three (3) letters of recommendation from U.S. or Canadian physicians, including, if possible, the chair of surgery or designee Dean's letter (or equivalent). International medical graduates must have letters of recommendation which clearly document U.S.
