    First Year Clinical Curriculum (PGY1) The exceptional rotations during your intern year are designed to give you the fundamentals of obstetrics, gynecology and primary care in an inclusive, nurturing, team-based environment. The academic year starts with a two-week "boot camp" to familiarize you with the everyday duties and procedures of an incoming resident. A "speed dating" event is also held to get to know the wonderful nurses and ancillary staff you will be working with.

    Rotation Structure The residency is a four-year program in obstetrics and gynecology that meets all requirements as specified by the ACGME and is fully accredited by the RRC. Expand Content Inova Fairfax Hospital and Inova Women’s and Children's Hospitals have a long history in preparing residents and medical students from nearby medical schools. We have primary residencies in internal medicine, surgery, family medicine, podiatry, psychiatry, pediatrics, obstetrics/gynecology and pediatric emergency medicine. We have traditionally had residents from Georgetown, George Washington, and Howard universities in medicine, obstetrics, and psychiatry.

    Research Curriculum at Inova The OB-GYN program places a major emphasis on resident scholarly activity. The curriculum is designed to advance residents’ knowledge of the basic principles of research, including how research is conducted, evaluated, explained to patients, and applied to medical education and patient care. All residents will participate in scholarly activity and mentorship begins in PGY 1 year.

    The goal of the Inova OB-GYN Residency Wellness Program is to promote the health and well-being of our residents. Tools are provided to ingrain lifelong habits that prevent complications of stress and burnout while allowing these young physicians to promote and teach well-being to their patients along their professional journey. Additionally, we aim to create a ‘feeling of community’ within our residency family. The Resident Wellness committee, run by the residents, has created a curriculum that addresses the full spectrum of wellness domains.
