1. Surgical Training and Rotations

    In addition to the non-podiatric rotations outlined below, residents in podiatric surgery can expect the following progression over the three-year training cycle: PGY-1 By end of the first year, the resident is expected to demonstrate basic proficiency in the performance of forefoot surgery and minor procedures of the rearfoot. These include: Soft tissue and nail procedures Toe surgery First Ray procedures Metatarsal procedures Basic non-reconstructive midfoot-rearfoot procedures A.O.
  2. About Inova Fairfax Hospital

    The Inova-GWU Psychosomatic Medicine Fellowship is based at Inova Fairfax Hospital, an 833-bed tertiary care teaching hospital in Falls Church, VA, just a few miles from Washington, DC. The hospital is a leader in transplant medicine with active cardiac, pulmonary, and renal transplant services. Inova Heart and Vascular Institute houses 156 beds as the region's only facility dedicated exclusively to heart and vascular care. Inova Cancer Services is a comprehensive oncology program service and Inova Fairfax Hospital provides the area's only Level 1 Trauma Center.
  3. Curriculum

    The Inova-GWU Psychosomatic Medicine Fellowship is composed of three elements: clinical experience, didactic instruction with both clinical supervision and formal seminars, and research training. Each of these components is carefully balanced to allow the fellow sufficient time to pursue both clinical and research goals.   4. Leadership and Teaching Faculty

    Leadership The Inova-GWU Psychosomatic Medicine Fellowship is directed by Catherine C. Crone, MD, and Thomas N. Wise, MD. Dr. Crone is a fellow of the Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine (APM) and current treasurer. Dr. Wise has been president of both the APM and the American Psychosomatic Society. He is associate chair of psychiatry at GWU. Both have focused much of their careers on fellowship training, serving on the APM fellowship training subcommittee and the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology’s psychosomatic medicine examination committee.

    These are exciting times at Inova Fairfax Hospital, the flagship of Inova’s five hospitals, and the Inova Surgery Residency Program. Inova Fairfax Medical Campus serves nearly 4 million people with nearly 1,000 beds through the five hospitals on campus. An extensive, five-year campus expansion has recently concluded with the opening of the new Inova Women’s Hospital, a new Inova Children’s Hospital, and a new 10-story patient tower.
