The Colorectal Surgical Section of the Inova Fairfax Hospital Department of Surgery is composed of surgeons specially trained in the surgical treatment of diseases of the colon, rectum and anus. In addition to the five to six years of general surgical training, each surgeon has completed another one to two years of specialized training in colon and rectal surgery. Each surgeon is board certified, or is board eligible.

The section of General Surgery consists of over 30 board-certified surgeons trained to diagnose and manage a broad array of surgical problems. Many are fellowship trained and have particular expertise in certain subspecialties. These range from the common to the unusual, and include hernias, gallbladder disorders, endocrine, breast and intestinal diseases. We see a wide variety of cancer patients, including breast, thyroid and parathyroid, gastrointestinal malignancies including stomach, small and large intestine.
