  2. Lab Visit Instructions for Specimen Collection

    These instructions are available in a number of languages: Arabic English Farsi Korean Spanish Routine Urine Specimen Wash hands with soap and water. To avoid contamination, do not touch the inside of the cup or the cap of the urine collection cup. Unscrew the cap of the urine collection cup. Place cap on the counter with the inside of the lid facing upwards. Begin to urinate into the toilet. Females should separate the labia before beginning to urinate. As urination continues, place cup under stream and continue to urinate into cup, collecting specimen. Fill the specimen cup ½ full.

    Inova Laboratories provides all the supplies necessary for the collection of specimens, including blood collection tubes, centrifuge, culture transport swabs, needles, preservative solutions, request forms, specialized kits for specimen collection, specimen bags, sterile urine containers, transport containers, and additional supplies required for venipuncture and capillary draws, based on referral volume.

    The Inova Fairfax Medical Campus, Center for Liver Diseases offers comprehensive services to patients with chronic liver diseases. These consultative services are achieved through a well coordinated team of hepatology experts working within the Center for Liver Diseases. Staffing for the Center for Liver Diseases consists of board-certified gastroenterologists/ hepatologists, a physician assistant, clinical nurse coordinators and a nurse manager. Provide the first and last name of the physician ordering the test. This is critical for timely and accurate reporting of test results. Provide complete billing information.
