Meet the Deans Craig Cheifetz, MD, FACP Associate Dean for Medical Education Craig Cheifetz, MD, FACP, is the Associate Dean for Medical Education at Inova’s UVA School of Medicine Regional Campus with more than 15 years of experience as a regional campus dean. Dr. Cheifetz is a nationally recognized thought leader on regional medical campus education and an AAMC Group on Regional Medical Campus’s Distinguished Service Award recipient. Dr.

Curriculum Inova Health System has been teaching medical students for more than 50 years. It is home to 6 residency programs, several fellowships, and robust CME programming. The Inova Health System serves 2M+ patients in inpatient and outpatient centers each year, with more than 1,900 hospital beds spanning 7 hospitals. Inova Fairfax Medical Campus (IFMC) is a Level 1 trauma center with approximately 140,000 Emergency Department visits per year. IFMC is a high-volume tertiary care center serving a diverse patient population and has been ranked by U.S.

Admissions Inova has been involved for decades in the selection of our future physicians. Inova Faculty are members of UVA’s Admissions Committee and participate in reviewing applicant files, conducting interviews and voting on candidates for medical school. Fourth year Inova Campus medical students will have opportunities to become members of the Admissions Committee. Inova has a long history of serving its community through events aimed at introducing local high school students to medical futures.

UVA School of Medicine Inova Campus students have the opportunity to work with appropriate research mentors on projects in a wide variety of fields. Additionally, third and fourth year students have the opportunity to be matched with clinical research preceptors for a more longitudinal project experience.
