Predictive Medicine Leads to Targeted Therapies The Beatty Liver and Obesity Research Program includes a basic science laboratory (including a Cell Culture Lab for advanced molecular experimentation), a clinical trial team, a data management team and a health services research team. Additionally, the program has a large specimen bio-repository. The staff includes PhD-trained scientists, data analysts, clinical trialists, and other research staff. A large number of graduate and undergraduate students are trained at the center.

Putting Research Into Action Inova Outcomes Research Program The Outcomes Research Program at Inova is engaged in the development and application of outcomes measures that are used to assess impairments, functional limitation, disability, health satisfaction and quality of life. Program staff conducts novel outcomes research and provides support to clinical researchers to assess patient outcomes. Patients with a wide range of diagnoses can be evaluated using both generic and disease specific evaluations.

Lynn Gerber, MD Lynn Gerber, MD, internationally renowned physician-investigator, leads the Center for Integrated Research as the medical director of the Functional Assessment Laboratory and is the current medical director of research for the Department of Medicine. She has been the director of the Center for the Study of Chronic Illness and Disability (CCID) at George Mason University. She brings her vast knowledge and experience as former chief of the Rehabilitation Medicine Department at The National Institutes of Health.
