  5. Northern Virginia Healthy Kids Coalition

    A community partnership to get kids healthy and to fight obesity, the Northern Virginia Healthy Kids Coalition (NVHKC) is a grassroots coalition of local organizations including Inova Health System, area school districts and others joined in a common goal: to promote better health for children of all ages. Today the need is especially profound as we work together to fight childhood obesity. Northern Virginia has one of the highest percentage increases in childhood obesity in the nation.

    The Northern Virginia Healthy Kids Coalition seeks to engage hundreds of community partners in a shared effort to encourage children to adopt healthier habits where they live, learn, work and play. We promote better health through a variety of beneficial diet and exercise behaviors. The coalition is led by a voluntary Steering Committee supported by staff from Inova Health System.
