1. Pulmonary Diagnostics

Inova Pulmonary Diagnostic tests and treatments can help assess an individual’s lung health, confirm a diagnosis, classify disease severity and progression, determine the best therapy, and evaluate a patient’s response to prescribed therapy. Everyone can benefit from pulmonary diagnostic testing – from athletes and healthy individuals who want to know their lung function and exercise status to those preparing for thoracic (chest) surgery, and people living with allergies or a lung condition. Pulmonary Diagnostics is offered at four hospital locations.
  2. Pulmonary Hypertension

Learn More   Pulmonary hypertension (PH) refers to elevated pressure in the vessels of the lungs. If affected, the arteries and veins in the lungs become narrow and stiff. As the result, the right side of the heart has to work harder to pump blood through the lungs. If left untreated, PH can lead to right heart failure. The Pulmonary Hypertension Program at Inova Fairfax Hospital provides the highly specialized multi-disciplinary care required by patients dealing with various types of PH.
  3. Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension (CTEPH)

Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension (CTEPH) Chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) is a rare form of high blood pressure affecting the lungs. It is caused by blood clots in the lung vessels that get stuck, clog the arteries and eventually form scar tissue. This scar tissue narrows the lung’s blood vessels, making it difficult for blood to pass through. CTEPH is challenging to diagnose, often leading to delayed or missed diagnoses.
