Inova’s online physician referral directory (“Find A Doctor”) is advertised and promoted throughout Northern Virginia to bring together the needs of patients and physicians in our community.  Physicians credentialed with Active or Provisional privileges at an Inova hospital are eligible to participate in the external physician directory. Primary Care physicians (Family Practice, Internal Medicine and Pediatrics) with Courtesy or Community privileges at an Inova hospital are also eligible.

Reappointment is the process of re-evaluating a practitioner's current competency after they have been appointed to the medical staff or professional staff at an Inova entity. Inova reappoints each practitioner via a schedule based on the practitioner's birth month. Some practitioners may be reappointed "out of sync" depending on their initial approval date in relation to the current reappointment schedule. Reappointments are being standardized to place all practitioners in the birth month-odd/even-year cycle. During this transition period your reappointment cycle may be less than 24 months.

New standardized Inova templates are available for you to document with optimal efficiency. These templates have been developed by practicing Inova physicians, and approved by coding, billing and compliance. These templates will walk you through what is needed to appropriately complete your documentation. Benefits: Save time Don't double document. The templates will pull information from other parts of the chart into the note so you don't have to chart it again.

As part of an ongoing effort to improve quality and safety for our patients, Inova supports our physicians with information and programs on medical record documentation. Improving documentation leads to better communication among caregivers as well as improved measurement of quality outcomes based on severity of illness and risk of mortality. Comprehensive Plan Amendment Approved The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved an amendment to the county's comprehensive land-use plan at their June 28, 2022 meeting to allow for a hospital use on the property adjacent to the existing Franconia-Springfield HealthPlex.
