A team of physicians comprised of cardiologists from both Inova Cardiology and Virginia Heart, led by Kelly Epps-Anderson, MD, and Jennifer Shea, MD, provide the specialized expertise to evaluate, treat and monitor cardio-oncology patients. Cardiovascular Genomics Program The Inova Cardiovascular Genomics Program specializes in the care of adult and pediatric cardiovascular patients and their families with inheritable genetic diseases (diseases due to biological fingerprint or DNA) and genomic diseases (diseases inherited and related to other environmental or acquired factors). Inova's Congenital Heart Disease Program started in 1994 as one of the country's first programs to care for congenital heart disease patients. Today, our team of highly specialized physicians continues to care for patients in every stage of congenital heart disease. Our congenital heart team includes adult congenital cardiologists and surgeons from Inova Heart and Vascular Institute (IHVI) and pediatric cardiologists and cardiac surgeons from Inova Children's Heart Center. Heart Failure and Advanced Therapies Program A diagnosis of advanced heart failure, also known as congestive heart failure or CHF, indicates heart disease that has progressed to a point where traditional therapies and symptom management are no longer working. Over time, the heart becomes enlarged and the tissue becomes damaged. Heart failure is most common in people over age 65 and is a leading cause of hospitalization for this age group.
