Emotional and spiritual support during your child's stay Chaplains, including lay and clergy both part-time volunteers and full-time staff, are available at Inova Children’s Hospital to provide emotional and spiritual support to patients and their families. There is a full-time staff chaplain dedicated to Inova Children’s Hospital. The hospital has a nondenominational chapel that is always available for meditation and prayer. It is located on the 1st floor of the hospital, near the South Tower elevators.

Educational, spiritual, convenience and other resources for families When a child is in the hospital, we know that this can affect the whole family. Inova Children’s Hospital is dedicated to family and patient-centered care and has a host of resources to help support children and their families during their stay. Family lounges Each floor of Inova Children’s Hospital includes designated space for families. These lounges provide a comfortable space for families to have a meal, rest and work remotely, if needed.

Lodging, dining and shopping options near Inova Children's Hospital Local hotels have negotiated special room rates for patients and family members receiving care at any facility on the Inova Fairfax Medical Campus, including Inova Fairfax Hospital, Inova Children's Hospital, Inova Women's Hospital and Inova Heart and Vascular Institute. Rates are based on availability and apply only to patients and/or family members unless otherwise stated.

Food, snacks and meal service at Inova Children's Hospital Nutritious meals are important to your child’s recovery. Our Food Services Department has designed a specific menu for pediatric patients with many child-friendly food selections. This service – Dining On Call – is much like room service. Parents may call Dining On Call between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. when their child is ready to eat. The meal will be delivered within 45 minutes. Parents may also order up to 2 parent trays per meal order, at no additional cost.

Help with visitor concerns and assistance The Patient Relations Department on the Inova Fairfax Medical Campus serves Inova Children's Hospital and serves as a liaison between patients, families, visitors and the hospital’s administration. Patient Relations addresses complaints and grievances, acknowledges compliments, and notarizes documents for patients.

Inova Children’s Hospital has expanded its Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) Program to now support the complex needs of newborns and children dealing with either cardiac failure or respiratory failure. ECMO is a type of cardiopulmonary bypass that can provide temporary support of lungs, heart and other organs to patients who are failing conventional treatments. It has been used in the care of more than 75,000 patients. The majority of those patients were newborns with severe respiratory failure soon after birth.
