Dr. Jason Goldberg is a specialty care physician board certified in pediatric cardiology and pediatrics at Inova Health System. He joined Inova in 2022 and has been practicing since 2010. Prior to joining Inova, Dr. Goldberg worked as an associate professor at the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center in Memphis, where he saw patients and conducted clinical research at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Dr. Goldberg graduated from George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, DC. He then completed residency training in pediatrics and fellowships in pediatric cardiology and pediatric heart failure and transplantation at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. Dr. Goldberg completed a master’s degree in epidemiology in 2020 and studied clinical outcomes in pediatric heart failure and transplantation. He has received National Institutes of Health funding for his clinical research, for work with colleagues at Inova Heart and Vascular Institute to study genomic biomarkers of heart transplant rejection. In addition to seeing patients at Inova L.J. Murphy Children’s Hospital and at Inova Children’s Cardiology, Dr. Goldberg aims to strengthen pediatric clinical research within Inova Children’s Heart Center through continued partnership with his mentors at Inova Heart and Vascular Institute. Dr. Goldberg’s clinical work focuses on children with heart failure of multiple etiologies, including myocarditis, dilated cardiomyopathy and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. He prescribes heart failure medical therapy and plans advanced therapies, including ventricular assist device placement and heart transplantation. In his previous position, Dr. Goldberg helped strengthen a pediatric heart transplant program and participated in the care of more than 50 heart transplant recipients. He looks forward to working with colleagues at Inova to build a top-tier pediatric heart transplant center through collaboration with other pediatric cardiologists, pediatricians, pediatric cardiac surgeons, nurses, respiratory therapists and many others. Dr. Goldberg believes that heart failure and transplant care involves a partnership between the patient’s family and the care team. He sees his role within the care team as the main point of communication for the family. Dr. Goldberg is skilled at helping families understand and process the illness and treatment plans their child is facing, so they can advocate for their child.
