Amir H Moazzez, MD

Amir Moazzez, MD, is a board-certified bariatric surgeon with extensive training and experience in the field of weight loss surgery. Since 2003, he has been working exclusively with morbidly obese individuals, helping his patients resolve co-morbid conditions and improve their quality of life. Dr. Moazzez is one of the top bariatric surgeons in the Washington, DC, region, having performed over 3,000 weight loss surgeries. Most recently, Dr. Moazzez served as the chief of surgery at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital and is the medical director of the Inova Weight Loss Surgery Program.  Dr. Moazzez is a specialist in multiple advanced bariatric procedures, including laparoscopic Roux en Y gastric bypass, laparoscopic sleeve gasterectomy, and laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding procedures. He is also an expert in daVinci robotic surgery. He became interested in weight loss surgery during his training at Georgetown University Hospital. After undergoing training in the field of advanced laparoscopic and bariatric surgery, his main focus became bettering the lives of those suffering with long-term obesity.  Dr. Moazzez and his team believe in a multi-disciplinary approach to weight loss with ongoing support from the surgeons, dietitians, psychologists, and exercise specialists. His goal is to ensure that prospective patients proceed, well informed, with this life changing experience in a seamless, convenient, and most importantly, safe manner.  A native Washingtonian, Dr. Moazzez resides in Mclean, VA, with his wife and two children.
