Cary C Schwartzbach, MD

Dr. Cary Schwartzbach is a specialty care physician board certified in orthopedic surgery. He has been an orthopedic surgeon with Inova since 1989, serving at Inova Fairfax Hospital. He has a special interest in the management of orthopedic injuries, especially shoulder, elbow and knee. Most recently, Dr. Schwartzbach is an Assistant Professor of Orthopedics at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine and an Assistant Clinical Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at George Washington University School of Medicine. He has been the Orthopedic Trauma Section Chief at the Inova Regional Trauma Center since 2002. Dr. Schwartzbach initially became interested in orthopedics because of his many injury visits as an active youngster. This interest became a passion, first in college doing orthopedic research and then in medical school participating in the care of patients with musculoskeletal ailments. His goal is to help his patients recover from their injuries, not just physically but emotionally and spiritually as well. A native of New York City, Dr. Schwartzbach currently resides in Fairfax with his wife and three children. In his spare time he likes to read, bicycle, and work out.
