Marcelo Kuperschmit, MD

Dr. Kuperschmit is a specialty care physician board certified in general surgery. He joins Inova Medical Group with over 30 years of clinical experience. He has a special interest in management of laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair & other advanced laparoscopic procedures. He applies his expertise to other procedures, including colon and breast surgery. Dr. Kuperschmit also performs minimally invasive surgery, which offers benefits such as shorter recovery time, fewer chances of scarring, and less pain following the procedure. Over the course of his career as a surgeon, Dr. Kuperschmit has performed over 1,000 laparoscopic extra-peritoneal hernias. He holds proficiency in both the traditional and pre-peritoneal balloon dissection approach, which he prefers because it has resulted in superior outcomes for his patients. A native of Buenos Aires Argentina, Dr. Kuperschmit currently resides in McLean, Virginia with his family. In his spare time he likes to play tennis.
