A native of Virginia Beach, VA, Melanie began her career in the field of physical therapy as a physical therapy assistant in 1997. She received her master's degree in physical therapy from Neumann College in Aston, PA, in 2002. Melanie then received her doctorate degree in physical therapy at Shenandoah University in 2021. Her experience includes tenures in several skilled nursing facilities, assisted living and nursing home centers, home health companies and outpatient orthopedic clinics. Melanie joined Inova Physical Therapy in 2013. She became a Certified Functional Manual Therapist through the Institute of Physical Art in 2017 and achieved senior physical therapist status with Inova in 2018. Melanie is currently an American Physical Therapy Association credentialed clinical instructor where she is also a member of the orthopedic and sports sections, and serves as a residency host for the Institute of Physical Art's residency program. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three children, working out, and relaxing with sewing, knitting, paper crafts and cooking.
