Michael S Lempel, DO

Dr. Lempel is a board-certified obstetrician/gynecologist. He joined Inova Medical Group with more than 14 years of clinical experience. He has a special interest in the management of fibroids, abnormal uterine bleeding, permanent and nonpermanent contraception, and minimally-invasive gynecologic surgery. Most recently, Dr. Lempel served as an obstetrician/gynecologist in a busy private practice where he helped train physicians to use minimally invasive surgical approaches in the management of common gynecologic conditions. While practicing full time, he was also responsible for training nurse practitioners in the field of women's health. Dr. Lempel is an Assistant Professor of Medical Education at the University of Virginia. He is the Operations Director for Quality of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus.  Dr. Lempel became interested in obstetrics and gynecology as it allows him to get to know his patients throughout the different stages of their lives, and to develop treatment plans based on their individualized needs. His goals are to utilize the latest advances in medicine and surgery to treat his patients with as little medication as possible and to use minimally invasive surgical approaches to cure disease and restore health. He believes that proper nutrition and minimizing stress are key components in preventing disease and reversing many symptoms. A native of Queens, NY, Dr. Lempel currently resides in Lorton, VA, with his wife, son and daughter.
