Palak Shah, MD, MS, is a board-certified internist, cardiologist and heart failure/transplant specialist. He is Director of the Inova Cardiovascular Genomics Center. His interest in cardiovascular genomics developed while pursuing a master’s degree in clinical and translational research. His training has encompassed multiple institutions in and outside of the DC area: Georgetown University, George Washington University and the University of Michigan. During his fellowship he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honor medical society, a prestigious award given to individuals recognized for their high academic standing, leadership, professionalism and firm sense of ethics, as well as commitment to service in the community. As Medical Director of the Inova Cardiovascular Genomics Center, Dr. Shah is working with a highly talented multidisciplinary team to bring cutting-edge genomics to the bedside of patients with cardiovascular disease. Our team encompasses cardiovascular specialists with a developed interest in cardiovascular genetics, certified and licensed genetic counselors and nurse coordinators. We are involved in research studies that incorporate genetics to enhance our understanding of cardiomyopathies and use genomic biomarkers to enhance our heart failure patients' management. Outside of work, Dr. Shah has a vibrant young family with three young kids and enjoys camping, snowboarding and tennis.
