Zain J Sultan, MD

Dr. Zain Sultan is a primary care physician board certified in family medicine. He joined Inova Health System in 2021 and has been practicing since 2017.  Dr. Sultan has a special interest in the prevention and management of chronic disease such as diabetes, heart disease and chronic pain through lifestyle changes such as diet and exercise. He enjoys treating patients of all ages, from newborns to older adults. Dr. Sultan prioritizes lifestyle changes in addition to any necessary medications or treatments to improve and prevent chronic diseases. He focuses on the whole patient and prioritizes mental health in addition to physical health for a holistic approach to wellness. Dr. Sultan strives to provide the best treatment possible to patients, be a source of accurate and helpful health knowledge, and work together with patients to help them achieve their own personal lifestyle and health goals. Prior to joining Inova, Dr. Sultan worked as an outpatient family physician for a community health organization in Alexandria, VA. A native of Atlanta, Dr. Sultan graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology with a degree in industrial and systems engineering. After working in business for a few years, he went to medical school specifically to become a primary care physician who specializes in disease prevention.  Dr. Sultan enjoys connecting with people from all backgrounds and speaks Spanish, Urdu and Hindi.
