The Neurosurgical Residency Program at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus accepts one (1) categorical resident annually. All qualified applicants are considered for interviews. However, due to the large number of applications we receive, we are not able to offer an interview to all qualified candidates. About GME Programs at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus The Inova Fairfax Medical Campus is constantly growing, recently reaching over 1,000 beds with the addition of a new Women’s and Children’s Hospital, adding to the main hospital and the Inova Vascular and Heart Institute. The Inova Fairfax Campus is home to a satellite of the University of Virginia School of Medicine, training over thirty medical students per year in the students’ third and fourth years of medical school. We have a long history and deep commitment to graduate medical education (GME) in the Washington, DC metro region. Inova Fairfax Hospital and Inova Children's Hospital are also major affiliates for Georgetown University, George Washington University, Howard University, the National Capital Consortium, the University of Virginia and Virginia Commonwealth University. See all of our Current ACGME- and CPME-accredited residency programs and fellowships at Inova Resident physicians within the neurosurgery residency have the benefits of both large clinical volumes and the opportunity to participate in the training of medical students. We feel that the experience gained in the Inova Fairfax Neurosurgery Residency will rival any experience in neurosurgery training in the country. Information for Prospective Residents The Neurosurgical Residency Program at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus accepts 1 categorical resident annually. Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) / Application Information Candidates must submit all required information through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) by September 15. Paper applications are not accepted. Candidates for our residency program are selected in conjunction with the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). Complete applications contain all of the documents listed below: Personal Statement Three (3) Letters of Recommendation from U.S. or Canadian physicians. International Medical Graduates (IMGs) must have letters of recommendation which clearly document U.S. or Canadian clinical experience. Dean's Letter (MSPE) or equivalent Medical school transcripts Results of standardized tests: USMLE and ECFMG certificate (IMGs) NOTE: Osteopathic applicants: While we will gladly accept and review your COMLEX scores, USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 CK scores are required. Eligibility Applicants must have graduated from medical school/osteopathic medical school. All applicants must have a minimum of three (3) months of U.S. or Canadian direct patient care activity. Externships must have included direct patient care. Observerships do not fulfill this requirement. We do not have a minimum score requirement. Each application is carefully reviewed on its' own merit by our faculty.
