ICAMS provides for interprofessional collaboration of teaching and learning to enhance patient safety, teamwork, critical thinking, research and the patient experience for the diverse community that we serve. ICAMS functions within Inova Health System and works in collaboration with the Inova Department of Surgery’s Advanced Surgical Technology and Education Center (ASTEC) through an integrated network to provide a multi-disciplined, team-based training environment. VIDEO: Shoulder Dystocia Simulation with Dr. Emily Marko Medical Simulation The ICAMS unit houses the following medical simulation areas: Six fully-integrated clinical education theatre (CET) rooms Labor and delivery suite with infant alcove Two medical-surgical inpatient rooms Intensive care unit (ICU) suite Neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) suite Operating suite Multi-purpose lab that doubles as a 4-bay emergency room Mock ambulance bay Supporting Facilities ICAMS utilizes all forms of simulation including high-fidelity patient simulation, surgical virtual simulation, and low-fidelity procedural skills simulation.
