Inova and Shenandoah University: Training Tomorrow's Healthcare Providers As Inova continues its journey as a leader in personalized health, including genomics and predictive prevention, it is imperative that tomorrow’s allied health practitioners be trained to provide care in this burgeoning field. This imperative led to the creation of a collection of degree and certificate programs offered by Shenandoah University both online and on the Inova Center for Personalized Health (ICPH) campus. The organizations are partnering to utilize the new model of health care education to produce practitioner-leaders experienced in the interprofessional team-based care model. We graduate practitioners who are skilled, experienced and ready to work immediately upon their graduation. The partnership captures some of the best features of an embedded training model, not only challenging students, but challenging medical centers to remain ahead of their practices. Programs are focused on practitioner training, and the certificates, specifically, are designed to serve the needs of current, practicing health care professionals at Inova.
