Northern Virginia Healthy Kids Coalition

A community partnership to get kids healthy and to fight obesity, the Northern Virginia Healthy Kids Coalition (NVHKC) is a grassroots coalition of local organizations including Inova Health System, area school districts and others joined in a common goal: to promote better health for children of all ages. Today the need is especially profound as we work together to fight childhood obesity. Northern Virginia has one of the highest percentage increases in childhood obesity in the nation. It's a serious problem, with one in four of our children and adolescents overweight or at risk of becoming overweight. Virginia Health Quality Award The Northern Virginia Healthy Kids Coalition has been chosen for a 2013 Virginia Health Quality Award by VHQC, a nonprofit health quality consulting company.
