Endovascular Treatments

Overview Conditions Endovascular treatments are a collection of very effective, minimally invasive procedures that treat cerebrovascular conditions from within the affected blood vessel. Typically, your Inova interventionist will insert a tiny tube, called a catheter, into the patient's femoral artery in the groin and thread it up to the head, neck or spine using fluoroscopy to provide real-time imaging guidance. Among the innovative endovascular procedures our specialists perform are: Balloon Angioplasty for Vasospasm  Carotid Angioplasty and Stenting  Embolization  Intra-Arterial Thrombolysis with tPA  Mechanical Thrombolysis and Clot Retrieval with the MERCI Device  Vertebroplasty for Vertebral Compression Fractures  Endovascular treatments are used for many different cerebrovascular conditions where a blood vessel is bleeding, narrowed or blocked. The expert neuroradiologists in the Inova Stroke and Cerebrovascular Disease Program perform innovative minimally invasive treatments for stroke and vascular disease.
