Educational, spiritual, convenience and other resources for families When a child is in the hospital, we know that this can affect the whole family. Inova Children’s Hospital is dedicated to family and patient-centered care and has a host of resources to help support children and their families during their stay. Family lounges Each floor of Inova Children’s Hospital includes designated space for families. These lounges provide a comfortable space for families to have a meal, rest and work remotely, if needed. These areas also allow families to keep their child’s room a restful and quiet place. It is very important that family members take care of themselves during a child’s hospitalization. We hope these family lounges help make that possible. Child Life services Our certified Child Life specialists (CCLS) are specially trained to understand the needs of children and families in the hospital.  A CCLS may work with siblings to help them cope with their brother or sister being in the hospital. Child life specialists also work with parents and other family members to understand what to expect and how to support the entire family during a child’s hospitalization. Spiritual care Our non-denominational chaplain services are always available to patients and families. Health Sciences Library We want you to have access to the most up-to-date information available. Our team of medical librarians is here to help. If you are looking for specific information on a variety of health-related topics, our Health Science Library (located in the main Inova Fairfax Hospital building) can be a great resource for you. Our medical librarians work with your healthcare team to gather trustworthy, personalized health information which is available in several languages. They can deliver these materials right to your child’s room or send to your home after discharge. There are also a variety of resources available for check out.
