Dr. Nagashree Gundu Rao is a specialty care physician board certified in endocrinology and internal medicine. She has a special interest in management of diabetes, thyroid disorders, metabolic bone diseases, pituitary disorders, obesity, and endocrine disorders in pregnancy. Prior to joining Inova Medical Group, Dr. Gundu Rao served as an endocrinologist with Nova Medical Group. Dr. Gundu Rao became interested in endocrinology, as this field provides her the intellectual stimulation and varied experiences that she seeks. Even a minor impairment in hormonal function can create multi-organ system involvement and test a physician's diagnostic skills. She also finds it rewarding to see resolution of patients' symptoms, in most cases, following treatment. Her goal is to build long-term partnerships with her patients by empowering them towards better health through patient education, evidence-based treatment options, and accurate identification of rootcause of symptoms, with an emphasis on preventative health. A native of Bangalore, India, Dr. Gundu Rao currently resides in Ashburn, Virginia, with her family. In her spare time she likes to read, cook, garden, travel and catch up with tennis.
